Tarheel Stamper - Zoo Animals Punch Instructions

“Zoo” Animal Crackers Box Punched Animals
Click on photo for larger view.
I have included a photo with tips below of the pieces needed for the animals on this box posted here. I made a “sticky” stick to help me pick up and place the small pieces.  LOL  I used a lollipop stick from a craft or big box store.  I put a dab of Tombow Multi-Purpose glue (see end of post for more info on this glue) on the flat end and let dry.  While it was drying, I left it in an upright position so the glue would not run off.  After drying, I dabbed my finger on top of the dried glue several times to cut down on the stickiness.  Otherwise it tore my paper when I tried to pick up the stick from placing the piece down.  Clear as mud right?  LOL

I am including  links below to a pdf if you want to print the instructions.  Instruction is used loosely because I did not label every punched piece.  I just could not spend that much time to type all that information.  I think you can figure out the sizes and the punches which were used on each animal.  I have the supplies used below.  Enjoy and if you have a question click on contact me.  I will try to help.

Click on photo for larger view.  Download pdf of this above.

I have a video on punch tips here which shows how to punch the elephant trunk and tiger stripes along with how to punch longer tags.  Also I show how to get a ball on each end of the jewelry tag punch.  I will post a card soon using that method for a sentiment.

Tarheel Stamper - VC Rocks Big Shot Madnes Blog Hop

***********************************************************

Welcome to my stop on your VC Rocks Big Shot Madness blog hop. The start of the blog hop is at the VC Rocks blog here - http://vcrocks.blogspot.com/   So if you lose your way during the blog hop or happen upon a broken link, you can go there and find the rest of the wonderful stops on the hop.

Wow didn't Robin have a wonderful project.  You probably came here from her blog Robin's Craft Room.  What an awesome stamper!  I am so blessed to be in a hop with all of these talented stampers!  VC Rocks is so much fun.  Hope you enjoy this stop on your Big Shot Madness Hop.   At the end of this post you will find the link to the next fantastic blog hop stop.

For my project I wanted to do something different for me.  I don't use brights often and I don't have any younger children or grandbabies yet, but I am hopeful in the future for the grandkids.  Can't wait!  So I don't make a lot of children type projects.   I love animal crackers  and it made me think of the circus so I kind of went with that theme.

Click on photo for larger view.

The "animal cracker" box can be used for a small gift box, a place marker if you put the child's name on it, or a party favor to take home.  Think of all the small items you can put in this box.  I made this using the Sizzix Box #2 Item # 114518 die.  Various punches and even a retiring Sizzlit (Birds and Blooms Item # 113485) were used.  Sorry about the retiring Sizzlit, but I made the lion before I received the retiring accessories list. You can substitute another small scallop circle or small flower.

Click on photo for larger view.

The card is made with the same animals on the box.  I used the Top Note die (Item # 113463, a Stampin' Up! exclusive) for the "circus train" car.  I also the versatile Square Lattice embossing folder (Item # 119976).  The sentiment is stamped on a tag I made with the jewelry tag punch.  Come back to get a tutorial on that one.  I will have a video tutprial soon and will link it then.  Also I will have photos of the animal parts I used.  I searched circus animals and came across a link for cupcakes.  Wow they were wonderful.

The popcorn box can be used for gifts or snacks.  This was made with the Fancy Favor Sizzix die (Item # 115965 another Stampin' Up! exclusive).   I used 2  stamps from the Tiny Tags set heat embossed in White detail powder on Real Red for the tag.  Punched the sentiment out with the Jewelry Tag punch.  I used the new Baker's Twine (Cherry Cobbler) and White grosgrain ribbon to tie around the box.  I pinched the folds on the side so the box would flare outwards like a popcorn box.

Hope you have enjoyed this circus set today!  I enjoyed making it.  Next stop you will be on your way to Bluegrass Stamper Studio.  Enjoy the wonderful project on her site.   I know you will get great ideas! So many wonderful things to see on this blog hop.

Hope you will come back to visit sometime.  Have a wonderful day!

Welcome to my little stop on this wonderful blog tour. If you lose your way on this blog hop, please go to the VC Rocks Blog at http://vcrocks.blogspot.com/. You probably came to my blog from Debbie Martin's fantastic blog Clever and Cute at http://www.cleverandcute.blogspot.com . After looking at my projects please continue on your tour by clicking on the following link which will lead you to Veronica Miller's awesome Bluegrass Stamper Studio blog at http://bluegrassstamperstudio.blogspot.com.  If you are starting this tour early Saturday morning, some of the links might not be working yet.  Official start time is 10 am EST according to the information at our Yahoo page.  Please come back at that time to see all the wonderful projects or go to the VC Rocks blog page.  I just needed to post mine early to make sure it was online and working.  I am visiting my mom Saturday morning and will be away from the internet for a while.

Our theme for the 2011 May Blog Hop is Color My World. Our projects were to have some sort of coloring on them, such as using Stampin' Up! watercolor crayons, a brayer, markers, or other products to color with. I chose to water color with Stampin' Up!'s classic dye reinkers.

Now on to my projects. I made a matching card and box set.  I want to buy some small gift to fit in the box for my mom for her birthday. I wish the shine of the embossing would show up in the photos.  It is so pretty.  I used the new Doily Triple Layer punch to make label that Happy Birthday is stamped on.

I will have a video up after the blog hop is finished showing how I used my Stampin' Up! Soft Suede classic dye ink to heat emboss.  I also show how I colored the flowers.  Bookmark my site and come back to view the video.  I have a YouTube channel with a few videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/TarheelStamper.  Scroll down after the photos for a supply list and information about the blog candy I am giving away.

VC Rocks Blog Hop #2 with Blog Candy

Welcome to my stop on the VC Rocks Blog Hop #2.  You may have come here from http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/   After my blog you will proceed to http://www.inkingthenightaway.blogspot.com/ to see some fantastic projects.  If you get lost on the hop, go to http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/  Read below for a description and details about blog candy.  You should be able to click on the photos for a larger view. Check back or follow my blog to see more wedding projects.  I will be sharing more I have made for the wedding in upcoming blog posts.  I have a photo of the group of projects at the end of this post.

Found this idea on Creations by Patty blog.  These purse boxes are very simple to make.  Great for small gifts, gift cards, trinkets, jewelry, or whatever you want to put in them.

I used Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla as my colors.  My son and his finance are using these colors for their wedding in August.  The Big Shot dies I used are Scallop Circle, Daisies #2, and Elegant Bouquet Impressions embossing folder.  I embossed with the folder after cutting the scallop circle out.

I used the Wedding Sweet set to add the thank you.  Colored the words with markers, huffed on the stamp, and stamped on Very Vanilla.  I punched the words out with tag punches.  I used a new punch in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack for the small flower on the tag and daisy.  I used Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon.  Said to say but it is retiring as well as the Really Rust Card stock. Tied the tag on with crochet thread.

Cut two scallop circles out.  Score leaving 7 scallops.  Do this on both scalloped circles.  See photo for detail.

Next follow directions on the photo below and tape together.

You will tape this box to the two scallop circles with the small scored piece taped to the bottom of the box. Tie some ribbon, add some embellishments and you have a great package!

I have some blog candy for you.  Somehow I ended up with two of It's the Thought Level 1 hostess stamp sets from the Summer Mini.  This is a clear mount set.  You will need acrylic blocks for this one.  Just leave a comment with your email address included in the comment.  You can leave it in this form {email at company dot net.}  If you don't leave an email, I want be able to contact you and this will disqualify you from the blog candy drawing.  I will use random.org to pick the comment on Monday, June 28.

I have so much fun with the VC Rocks yahoo group.  We have games, a virtual hotel, swaps, classes and so much more. Join us next year.  In the meantime you can view samples at the blog http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/.

Now please hop on over to http://www.inkingthenightaway.blogspot.com/ to enjoy more great projects!
Have a wonderful day!

VC ROCKS BLOG HOP #1

Welcome to the inaugural VC Rocks Blog Tour and to my blog Tarheel Stamper!  I am so happy you dropped by from Inking The Night Away's blog.  I am sure you have seen some fantastic projects from the extremely talented stampers on this tour. Be sure to read to the bottom of this post.  I am giving away blog candy!  Now on to my project! The suggested theme is retiring colors and/or Summer Mini items. I used retiring colors Barely Banana and Almost Amethyst.

You can click on the photos to open a larger view.

Forest Friends Baby Bib

Supplies needed:
1 - 5: x 11" Almost Amethyst Card Stock - scored and folded in half
1 - 5" x 5" Barely Banana Card Stock
Scrap of Barely Banana and Almost Amethyst Card Stock
1 - 4" x 4"  Whisper White Card Stock
Almost Amethyst  Classic Ink Pad
Teeny Tiny Stamp Set     Item# 115370
Forest Friends Stamp Set     Item# 113748
2 Flower Brads     Item# 112583
White Signo Gel Pen     Item# 105021
Whisper White Organza Ribbon    Item# 114319
Sizzix Bigz Die Scallop Envelope     Item# 115950
Sizzix Texturz Plate - Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1     Item# 114512
Modern Label Punch     Item# 116630
Word Window Punch     Item# 105090
Wide Oval Punch     Item# 112082
1 3/8" Square Punch     Item# 103375
1 1/4" Square Punch     Item# 104400
1/4" Circle Punch (retired)

  1. Run Barely Banana through Big Shot with the Scallop Square die.

  2. Using Large Dot Texturz Plate, run Barely Banana piece through Big Shot.  Set aside.

  3. Score 5" x 11" Almost Amethyst card stock at 5 1/2" and fold in half.  Run bone folder over fold to make a sharp crease.  Tip:  Lay a piece of copy paper over the fold and run bone folder over the copy paper.  This prevents shine from forming on the card stock. Next line the fold just underneath the scalloped part of the top of the Scallop Square die to make a scallop square card.

  4. Line Wide Oval punch in center of top of Almost Amethyst Scallop square card.  Only punch halfway down for neck hole.

  5. Put Barely Banana piece on top of Almost Amethyst with embossed dots on top, lining up scallops about  1/8" above bottom of Almost Amethyst.  Holding together, flip these two pieces over and lightly trace around neck hole and shoulders with a pencil.  Take Barely Banana piece off and line Wide Oval punch on top of pencil lines and punch.  Next adhere this piece to Almost Amethyst and trim shoulders down to the top of the Almost Amethyst piece using scissors being careful not to cut into the fold of the card.

  6. Punch 10 1/4" circles from Barely Banana.  Adhere as shown in sample card alternating scallops.  I cut my top circles in half after gluing to the Almost Amethyst piece.

  7. Stamp "Hello Baby" from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Almost Amethyst on Whisper White piece.  Punch out with Word Window punch. Punch Almost Amethyst scrap with Modern Label Punch.  Glue sentiment Word Window piece to Almost Amethyst Modern Label piece.Using White Signo Gel Pen, put two dots on the Almost Amethyst punched piece as shown in card sample. Stamp bunny image from Forest Friends in Almost Amethyst on Whisper White. Trim closely around bunny.  You can leave a tiny border of white.  Also I didn't cut out the inside white part of the tail.

  8. Punch 1 3/8" square from Almost Amethyst.  Punch 1 1/4" square from Whisper White. Layer Whisper White square on top of Almost Amethyst square.  Using Stampin' Up! Dimensionals, pop the bunny image up centering on Whisper White square.

  9. Cut approximately 12" of Organza ribbon.  Pierce holes only on the front of the card where desired for the two flower brads to go through.  Crunch the ribbon between the two brad prongs and insert in hole.  Bend prongs flat on inside of card.  Repeat for other side. See close up photo below. You can use a wood stamp to flatten brad prongs.  (I have a post here if you want to come back and look later on. )

  10. Stamp sentiment of your choice and decorate inside as desired.
