Party Hearty Masucline Birthday Card

I found a card on Stampin' Connection by Michelle Blackburn and was inspired to make this one.  I love Bermuda Bay card stock and Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper together.  Sahara Sand and Close to Cocoa also go well with this and I used those along with Whisper White on this card.

I used a star brad from the Stylized Silver Hodgepodge kit.  The punches I used are My Way, large and small Star punches.  I used the My Way punch on the end of the Close to Cocoa strip to add another detail.  I love how it turned out.  Hope my brother-in-law likes it as well! Have a wonderful day!

Road Work 12 x 12 Scrapbook Page MDS

Click on photo to see larger view

My Digital Studio is so easy to work with.  It took me about 15 minutes to make this page.  Sorry I haven't been posting regularly.  I have been working on a swap for VC Rocks and have not been feeling well.

Wednesday at our home in SC, DOT was working on the road in front of our trailer.  It is very close to the road and the windows and walls in this trailer are very old.  Hence most noise from outside are loud in here.  All day I heard the sounds of machines and workers.  LOL

Below is the journaling if you can't read it.

May 19th, 2010 started out as a lovely quiet day. Didn't last long. All day a loud roar, clangs, rumblings, and other sounds were heard. I am thankful that I can hear though and that our road is a little better.

When I went out to pick up Russell from work this afternoon, I found this machine parked directly in front of my driveway. I had to drive on my neighbor's grass to pull out. LOL SC DOT at its finest!

Now for my Baby Girl Bib card share!
You can click on the photos to see a larger view.

I decided to opt for a little older girlie look for this bib.  Maybe she could wear this to cover her Sunday Best!
For this card I used the Cottage Wall Designer Series paper (Item# 115671).  Order quickly if you want this paper.  It will go on the Retiring list and possibly sell out before the end of June.  I used the 5 Petal Punch (Item# 109041).  Punch two flowers out of Pale Plum, Sponge edges.  I used the Boho Blossom Punch (Item# 110711) to punch a flower out of the DSP. The leaves are punched from Certainly Celery with a Sizzlits 4 Pack Die called Stampin' Up! Birds and Blooms (Item # 113485). Pierce holes where you want the button to go. I used crochet thread to attach the buttons.  The ribbon is gathered behind the button and between the thread.
You can see how I made the card base on the post here.

Have a great Stampin' Day!

Be sure to read to the bottom of this post.  I am giving away blog candy!  Now on to my project! The suggested theme is retiring colors and/or Summer Mini items. I used retiring colors Barely Banana and Almost Amethyst.

Forest Friends Baby Bib

Supplies needed:
1 - 5: x 11" Almost Amethyst Card Stock - scored and folded in half
1 - 5" x 5" Barely Banana Card Stock
Scrap of Barely Banana and Almost Amethyst Card Stock
1 - 4" x 4"  Whisper White Card Stock
Almost Amethyst  Classic Ink Pad
Teeny Tiny Stamp Set     Item# 115370
Forest Friends Stamp Set     Item# 113748
2 Flower Brads     Item# 112583
White Signo Gel Pen     Item# 105021
Whisper White Organza Ribbon    Item# 114319
Sizzix Bigz Die Scallop Envelope     Item# 115950
Sizzix Texturz Plate - Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1     Item# 114512
Modern Label Punch     Item# 116630
Word Window Punch     Item# 105090
Wide Oval Punch     Item# 112082
1 3/8" Square Punch     Item# 103375
1 1/4" Square Punch     Item# 104400
1/4" Circle Punch (retired)

  1. Run Barely Banana through Big Shot with the Scallop Square die.

  2. Using Large Dot Texturz Plate, run Barely Banana piece through Big Shot.  Set aside.

  3. Score 5" x 11" Almost Amethyst card stock at 5 1/2" and fold in half.  Run bone folder over fold to make a sharp crease.  Tip:  Lay a piece of copy paper over the fold and run bone folder over the copy paper.  This prevents shine from forming on the card stock. Next line the fold just underneath the scalloped part of the top of the Scallop Square die to make a scallop square card.

  4. Line Wide Oval punch in center of top of Almost Amethyst Scallop square card.  Only punch halfway down for neck hole.

  5. Put Barely Banana piece on top of Almost Amethyst with embossed dots on top, lining up scallops about  1/8" above bottom of Almost Amethyst.  Holding together, flip these two pieces over and lightly trace around neck hole and shoulders with a pencil.  Take Barely Banana piece off and line Wide Oval punch on top of pencil lines and punch.  Next adhere this piece to Almost Amethyst and trim shoulders down to the top of the Almost Amethyst piece using scissors being careful not to cut into the fold of the card.

  6. Punch 10 1/4" circles from Barely Banana.  Adhere as shown in sample card alternating scallops.  I cut my top circles in half after gluing to the Almost Amethyst piece.

  7. Stamp "Hello Baby" from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Almost Amethyst on Whisper White piece.  Punch out with Word Window punch. Punch Almost Amethyst scrap with Modern Label Punch.  Glue sentiment Word Window piece to Almost Amethyst Modern Label piece.Using White Signo Gel Pen, put two dots on the Almost Amethyst punched piece as shown in card sample. Stamp bunny image from Forest Friends in Almost Amethyst on Whisper White. Trim closely around bunny.  You can leave a tiny border of white.  Also I didn't cut out the inside white part of the tail.

  8. Punch 1 3/8" square from Almost Amethyst.  Punch 1 1/4" square from Whisper White. Layer Whisper White square on top of Almost Amethyst square.  Using Stampin' Up! Dimensionals, pop the bunny image up centering on Whisper White square.

  9. Cut approximately 12" of Organza ribbon.  Pierce holes only on the front of the card where desired for the two flower brads to go through.  Crunch the ribbon between the two brad prongs and insert in hole.  Bend prongs flat on inside of card.  Repeat for other side. See close up photo below. You can use a wood stamp to flatten brad prongs.  (I have a post here if you want to come back and look later on. )

  10. Stamp sentiment of your choice and decorate inside as desired.

Mother's Day Surprise!

Sorry for the personal news, but I just had to share a sweet thing my sons did for me.  Since Russell had to go to work on Saturday morning after Bob's graduation, we had to travel back to SC after the graduation late Friday night.  So that meant I was here in SC on Mother's Day.  Russell worked that day also and we had a nice steak dinner after he came home after work.  We were sitting there watching TV when we heard a car door and then a knock on the door.  I was having a rough physical day (fibro flare up) and was in my jammies.  So I jumped up and ran to the back of the trailer. Russell told me to come up front.  When I did there was Bob and Tim standing there with flowers and a card.  They had driven over two hours to be with me for a few hours.  How sweet is that!  Randy, our oldest son, was working and couldn't come.  I have the best sons in the world!  And my future daughter-in-law (already my daughter) gave me a beautiful orchid and the sweetest card!  I can't thank the Lord enough for my special family!

Then I wake up this morning and discovered that I had won a free class from the super talented Erika Martin!  Wow what a way to start off the day.  I am so blessed!  Her website is here.  Check out all her wonderful work!  She is very inspiring!  I can't wait to start the class.

I have an earlier post today of a card share.  You can click on the link "card share" or just scroll down to the next post.

Hope you all have a wonderful day,
Tammy

Squaresville

Square cards give you a little more room to create with.  I made this for a Monday Mailer program I am in with a NC Demo Yahoo group.  Each Monday during the month we mail a card to a stampin' demo and receive one from another one.  It is a lot of fun looking forward to that card in the mailbox!  Our theme is retiring colors, so I used Barely Banana and Close to Cocoa on this one.  I used the 2 way glue pen and sprinkled Diamond Dust glitter on the butterfly.  Isn't she/he cute?  I included a photo of another I made similar to this one.  I wish I would have had the Bashful Blue satin ribbon to use on the 2nd card.  I stamped the circle image from Circle Circus in Versamark.  Then used the sponge daubers to dab Stampin' Pastels over the Versamark.  I love the soft look of it and I used a supply I rarely use.

Hope you enjoy this card and this day!
Happy Stampin'!

Happy Graduation!

With God all things are possible
 Matthew 19:26

We are so proud of our son, Bobby.  He is graduating today, May 7 2010, from Ambassador Baptist College.  He will graduate with a bachelor's degree of 2nd Man Christian Education.  He took classes for pastors and teachers, studied Greek and Hebrew, and many other areas of study.  Bobby did not like reading in school, but now reads profusely.  I am so happy he has discovered the joy of reading.  He likes to study Biblical doctrines and commands and see what the Bible says, not just what man says.  Not to say that the pastors and professors haven't taught the correct things, but he loves to study and make sure that God's word is preached. He has a love for the Jewish people and it has rubbed off on me to want to study more about their festivals, customs. and feasts. The New Testament becomes more interesting with a knowledge of the Jewish traditions.  Can't wait to see what God has for Bobby in the future!  Congratulations son!  We are so proud of your accomplishments.

Now here is the card I made him.  This is not my original idea.  I saw a card on the fantastically talented Jackie Topa's blog!  She has a tutorial to make a suit with tie and showed a photo of the commencement gown. I wished I would have had some of Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous blue satin ribbon for the tie, but the Basic Grey works.  I made the tassel with crochet thread.  I did not have a black brad so I used the Bashful Blue ones I had.  I think it looks good with that color brad.  I added a verse inside from a retired Stampin' Up! set named Say it with Scriptures.  The verse is Trust in the Lord with all thine heart. Proverbs 3:5.

Supplies used:

Stamp Sets - Say it with Scriptures, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Accessories - brads, Matchbox XL Sizzix die, Basic Grey ribbon
Ink - Bashful Blue
Card stock - Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Basic Black

Birthday Greenhouse Garden

I bought this stamp set, Greenhouse Garden, and have rarely used it.  I love the simplicity of a 2-Step stamp set.  I combined a challenge with a card program on a NC Demo Yahoo group.  I am not sure I like the butterfly on the flower, but it was too late after I glued it with Crystal Effects.  I used a drop of Crystal Effects on the small flowers and the center of the large flower.  The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes, a go to set of mine.  The layout is from Techno Stamper's Sketch Challenge here.  I love her sketches.  The colors I used are Tempting Turquoise, Cameo Coral, Gable Green, Green Galore, Taken with Teal, Whisper White, and Ruby Red.  Half back pearls are from the Pretties kit.  I used the Word Window punch and cut them in half to put on the Cameo Coral.

VC ROCKS!

I have joined a Yahoo Group for three years now called VC ROCKS!  It is a lot of fun with swaps, challenges, and a virtual hotel.  They are doing something new this year handing out badges for completing certain requirements.  This will be digital, but we can print them or use them how we wish.  Our challenge for today was to make a 12 x 12 scrapbook page for the badges.  I decided to use retired Stampin' Up! DSP and soon to be retired color Close to Cocoa.  Sizzix Daisies #2 die was used to make the large flower.  The small flowers were punched with the Boho Blossoms punch. I used the retired Bold Alphabet for the title. Have a wonderful Stampin' Day!
