Tarheel Stamper Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Card

Click on photos for larger view.

This is such a fun card.  I saw a Rudolph made with the Stocking builder punch and it was so cute so I wanted to make one with the Sizzix Bigz Holiday Stocking die.  The photo with the pieces I used does not show Rudolph's smile.  To make the smile, I punched a circle out of Chocolate Chip and then positioned the circle punch over the punched out area a little off that to get the smile.  I used the Snowburst embossing folder on Rudolph.   The Signo white gel pen is great for adding highlights to the nose and eye.  The "antlers" are from the Snowflake #2 Bigz Die. The holly leaves were cut from the Stocking Accents die. The jingle bell is available in the Holiday Mini Catalog and is tied on with Cherry Cobbler baker's twine.  Colors used are Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Garden Green.  Hope you enjoy seeing the card and making one too!

Have a great day!

Tarheel Stamper - Reinker Techniques - Custom Ink Pad

Click on photo for larger view.

I have shared two tutorial videos on reinker techniques on YouTube on my TarheelStamper channel and also embedded at the end of this post.  I show some variations of reinker techniques.  I am sharing a card today with the custom ink pad technique.  Of course you can use your reinkers for inking your pads, but there are so many techniques out there to try.

Click on photo for larger view.

The card stock is Stampin' Up! Glossy White, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, and Daffodil Delight card stock.  Stamp set is Circle Circus.  Basic Rhinestones are used in the center of the flower and the flowers in the Lace Ribbon Punch.  The butterflies are made with the Embosslit Beautiful Wings die. Punches used are Curly Label, 5 Petal Flower, Lace Ribbon Border, Fancy Flower, and one from the Itty Bitty Punches Pack. Color of reinkers are Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, and Melon Mambo.  I thought these colors represent sunny, bright days like we are having this summer.  It reminds me of happy times.  Hope you enjoy the card and videos.  I will be sharing other cards with the other pieces shown soon.
Below is the piece I used on the card.

For my project I wanted to do something different for me.  I don't use brights often and I don't have any younger children or grandbabies yet, but I am hopeful in the future for the grandkids.  Can't wait!  So I don't make a lot of children type projects.   I love animal crackers  and it made me think of the circus so I kind of went with that theme.

Click on photo for larger view.

The "animal cracker" box can be used for a small gift box, a place marker if you put the child's name on it, or a party favor to take home.  Think of all the small items you can put in this box.  I made this using the Sizzix Box #2 Item # 114518 die.  Various punches and even a retiring Sizzlit (Birds and Blooms Item # 113485) were used.  Sorry about the retiring Sizzlit, but I made the lion before I received the retiring accessories list. You can substitute another small scallop circle or small flower.

Click on photo for larger view.

The card is made with the same animals on the box.  I used the Top Note die (Item # 113463, a Stampin' Up! exclusive) for the "circus train" car.  I also the versatile Square Lattice embossing folder (Item # 119976).  The sentiment is stamped on a tag I made with the jewelry tag punch.  Come back to get a tutorial on that one.  I will have a video tutprial soon and will link it then.  Also I will have photos of the animal parts I used.  I searched circus animals and came across a link for cupcakes.  Wow they were wonderful.

The popcorn box can be used for gifts or snacks.  This was made with the Fancy Favor Sizzix die (Item # 115965 another Stampin' Up! exclusive).   I used 2  stamps from the Tiny Tags set heat embossed in White detail powder on Real Red for the tag.  Punched the sentiment out with the Jewelry Tag punch.  I used the new Baker's Twine (Cherry Cobbler) and White grosgrain ribbon to tie around the box.  I pinched the folds on the side so the box would flare outwards like a popcorn box.

Hope you have enjoyed this circus set today!  I enjoyed making it.  Next stop you will be on your way to Bluegrass Stamper Studio.  Enjoy the wonderful project on her site.   I know you will get great ideas! So many wonderful things to see on this blog hop.

Hope you will come back to visit sometime.  Have a wonderful day!

Our theme for the 2011 May Blog Hop is Color My World. Our projects were to have some sort of coloring on them, such as using Stampin' Up! watercolor crayons, a brayer, markers, or other products to color with. I chose to water color with Stampin' Up!'s classic dye reinkers.

Now on to my projects. I made a matching card and box set.  I want to buy some small gift to fit in the box for my mom for her birthday. I wish the shine of the embossing would show up in the photos.  It is so pretty.  I used the new Doily Triple Layer punch to make label that Happy Birthday is stamped on.

I will have a video up after the blog hop is finished showing how I used my Stampin' Up! Soft Suede classic dye ink to heat emboss.  I also show how I colored the flowers.  Bookmark my site and come back to view the video.  I have a YouTube channel with a few videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/TarheelStamper.  Scroll down after the photos for a supply list and information about the blog candy I am giving away.

Tarheel Stamper - Blue Bird for Mom

click on image for larger view

I made a card with the Blossom Petals Punch to give my mom for Mother's Day.  She ended up going to my sister's house out of town.  I was going to hand deliver the flower card, so I made another one for her I could mail.

All the products I used are Stampin' Up! Stamp set is clear mount Nature Walk.  I love coloring with reinkers on a plastic lid picked up with the aqua brush.  One tip I have is to wet the area you want to color first with plain water and then paint.  The wet paper takes the ink so much better.  Let that area dry before painting adjacent areas. I use Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper.  The image is stamped in Black Stazon ink.  It does not smear or run since it is not water based dye ink.

The bookmark sentiment is stamped in Basic Brown and immediately heat embossed in clear embossing powder. I watercolored the rest of the images with reinkers after stamping them in Basic Brown.  Remember to let the brown ink dry a little while.  After watercoloring dried, I used the Versamarker on the images and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This added a nice shiny touch.  The cardstock is glossy white and the Big Shot Die is Two Tags.

I hope all you mothers out there have a wonderul Mother's Day!  I am so blessed to be the mom of three sons.  Thank you Lord for the joy they have given me over the years and continue now.

Tarheel Stamper - Blossom Petals Punch Ballerina Card

Click on photo for larger view.

This card reminds me of a ballerina.  I love how it turned out.  A card I saw recently inspired me to use our Blossom Petals Punch to make the skirt or tutu.  The card used a scallop circle folded in half and pleated.  It was cute!  I wanted to use the Blossom Petals Punch to make one.  I had the idea that it would make a cute ballerina tutu or a fairy's dress.  So what do you think.  I have the directions on a video tutorial using the Blossom Petals punch to make other things along with a flower.  The post with the video is here or you can visit my YouTube channel here.

Tarheel Stamper - Pennant Banner and Bird's Nest Wedding Favors

Bird Nest Favors

The first photo is of a place setting at the reception.  We used paper and plastic products to help offset the cost and to quicken clean up! These are bird nests (haystacks) in a cello bag tired with Certainly Celery Satin ribbon.  I used the Wide Oval, Modern Label, and Word Window punches.  Colors are Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Bashful Blue card stock.  My Digital Studio is great for making the labels.

You can click on the photos for larger views.  We made almost 70 of these.  I would not have been able to do these without help from my sister, my other daughter(in law) and made my newest daughter(in law)'s sister.

Banner

The banner below is made with the Pennant Bigz XL die.  I stamped their names in Chocolate Chip with the Lovely Letters stamp set.  I used the 2 Step Bird and Scallop Circle punches on the banner also.  I wish I had a better photo, but hopefully you get the idea.  Everyone loved the banner and decorations.

We had a fruit and vegetable tray, wedding cookies, cake pops, mints, nuts, chocolate dipped strawberries, and heart shaped chicken salad sandwiches.  Also I made a Sundrop punch and we all love it.  Made it for the wedding reception also. Recipe is below the photo.  It is simple and thirst quenching.  It went quickly at both events.

Copied from Cynthia on the link below the recipe!

Sundrop Punch

If you are ever in need of a delicious punch recipe that is easy to make with limited ingredients, this recipe is for you. I found it while getting my nails done in a cookbook produced by the women of First United Methodist Church in Clover, SC.

2 (12 ounce) cans frozen lemonade concentrate
2 (46 ounce) cans unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled
3 (2 liter) Sundrops, chilled

Mix lemonade and pineapple juice together and refrigerate or freeze. If frozen, set out of freezer about 4 hours before serving time.

Pour into a large punch bowl, add Sundrop and stir gently to blend. Float thinly sliced lemon or orange on the top. Serve immediately.

Tarheel Stamper - Cake Pops and Shower and Wedding Favors

Thought I would share these cake pops I made. I had seen some on an Internet site and thought they would be cute to have for my daughter(in-law's) shower.  Mine doesn't look as good as that site's, but I think they turned out cute.  It did take some to make these, but everyone loved them.  I wish I would have had more time to maybe add a ribbon and a punched label to them, but they are cute.

Next is a photo of all the pillow boxes I made.  I showed one in the video I shared the other day.  These are made with the Sizzix Pillow Box Die, Modern Label and Word Window punches, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue and Whisper White card stock, and Certainly Celery ribbon. I also used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

Below is a close up of one of the boxes.

Next post I will show the banner some other decorations and the reception favors.

Happy Stampin',

Tarheel Stamper - First Video - Sizzix Pillow Box Die Tips

I cannot believe how long it has been since I posted.  Almost one month without a post is too long!  I was very busy with wedding preparations for our oldest son and now daughter("in-law")!  Yahoo they were married Saturday March 12th.  I made the decorations for a shower, wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner, and the wedding reception.  I had some great help from my other daughter("in-law"), my sister, and the bride's sister.  I am so thankful they helped me last week or I would never had gotten all the wedding things finished.  I will share pictures in the future, but I don't have my camera with me at the moment.

My sweet aunt passed away early Thursday morning and we buried her yesterday.  So my past week has been a roller coaster of emotions.  The family was so kind to schedule family visitation and the funeral services for Sunday and Monday so the wedding could go on and my mother (her sister passed away) could attend the wedding.  The wedding was wonderful and some of the family told me it was a nice and needed diversion from the pain of losing a grandparent and mother-in-law.  I am thankful to know that she is with loved ones and the Lord in Heaven now.

On to the video and enough of the personal life things for today.  I was making pillow box favors or the wedding rehearsal dinner and wanted to use each piece of card stock for as many pillow boxes as possible.  The video shows you how to get 4 out of one piece of card stock.  I wanted to see if I could make a video.  Please don't laugh too hard.  LOL ;-)  I hope you can get some tips out of this video.  I show the pillow box and some other tips I have learned about using the Sizzix.  I hope to make more in the future.  I used the Sixxix pillow box die from Stampin' Up!  It is so easy to make cute boxes with this.  I put 4 Robin Egg candies in each box.  The theme of the wedding was love birds.  The video is below and also on YouTube.  I have a channel titled Tarheel Stamper.

Anyway  I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for reading all this!

Tarheel Stamper - Free Bird

One of the these cards will go to my Monday Mailer partner in my NC Demos Yahoo Group.  I love making the flowers using the embossing stylus to make them more 3D.  I will have another post showing something I did with the background and something I discovered while making this "antique pottery" background.  I will explain that one tomorrow.  Stay tuned!

This is the sketch.

I used the beautiful Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper and the Nature Walk stamp set from the Occasions Mini.  Check it out on my sidebar.  There are some awesome products there. Plus if you spend $50 in merchandise, you can pick a free item from the Sale-a-bration catalog.  What is better than that?

Tarheel Stamper - Sassy Cake Card

Click on photo for larger view.
Wow it is already February!  I can't believe how fast time flies.  I would say when you are having fun, but the past few weeks have not been fun for me.  Dental appointments are not my favorite thing to do.  Spent over two hours in the chair on Monday and still have to go back one more time.  Last week I did the same thing but different procedure.  Needless to say I wasn't really in the mood to stamp until today.  I made this card for my Monday Mailer partner.  Poor lady has gotten a lot of late cards from me the past month.  Anyway enough of that and on to the card.

I used Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, and Very Vanilla for this card.  The stamp sets used are two hostess sets named Birthday Bakery and Slice of Life. The ribbon is the vanilla taffeta and small pearls were applied to the center of the flowers.  The flowers were punched with the Boho Blossoms punch. I love that punch.

I stamped the image in Jet Black Stazon and then used my markers on a lid.  I scribble on a plastic lid and pick up the marker with a blender pen.  I did use the Pink Pirouette marker directly on the paper.  Notice the tulip border.  I found a fantastic tutorial by Sharon Field on her blog Created by You here.  Wow a talented and sharing demonstrator she is!  Thanks for the wonderful tutorial!

Thanks for stopping by today and may your day be filled with blessings!

Tarheel Stamper - Lovely as a Tree Masculine Birthday

Made this one for my brother's upcoming birthday.  Since it is in the fall, I thought Early Espresso, Soft Suede, More Mustard, and Cajun Craze were great for this card.  I inked the trees with Versamark and then with Early Espresso to heat emboss with clear embossing powder.  You can see the shine from the embossing on the close up.  The tag is a the Jewelry Tag punch and tied on with Linen Thread.  Love the color combination!  Makes me think of fall.  Don't forget that you can click on the photo to bring it up in a larger view.

Have a wonderful day,

Tarheel Stamper - Sock Monkey Halloween

This card is for my NC Demo Monday Mailer partner. I don't use Sock Monkey or Sock Monkey Accessories much, but I should.  It is such a versatile set.  I watercolored this on SU watercolor paper.  I use reinker drops on a plastic lid and pick up the "paint" with a brush or aqua painter.  I made lots of the pumpkins and will share a scrapbook page tomorrow!  Colors are Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango,  Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Soft Suede, Old Olive and a Whisper White watercolor crayon.  I also used a little Uniball White Signo pen to put a little highlight on the pumpkins.  I used the watercolor brush to soften it a little. The Old Olive Swirls are made with the Swirly Sizzlits Decorative Strip die.  I need to practice watercoloring.  I love to do it just not well. Other talented stampers say to practice practice practice.  So I need to do more of that.  It is so fast just to pick up a stamp set and stamp, but watercoloring is so much fun. Try it sometime.  One tip I have is to dampen the watercolor paper first and then paint.  The ink spreads nicely after that.  You don't want the paper to be too wet, but it does blend well like that.  Just experiment and get a feel for it.

Close up of one of the pumpkins.

Decorated the inside with swirls and pumpkins.

Have a great day!

Tarheel Stamper - Simple Wedding Card

A friend of my husband's at work is getting married tonight.  We are going to the wedding.  I wanted a fast pretty card to make for them and think this is it.  The invitation we received was black and white so I used those colors.  The embossing folder is Manhattan Flower.  I used Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set to decorate the inside.  Also I used our clear envelopes to give it to the bride and groom.  I thought it would be neat for others to see the card.  The inside is punched with the Pinking Hearts border punch.  It adds a nice touch I think.  The "congratulations" stamp is from the Perfect Punches set and is heat embossed with Detail White powder and Basic Black.  The ribbon is white Organza.  I love the elegant look of this ribbon.  Pefect for wedding cards I think!  I had written inside the card before I took the photo so I tried to clean up my writing so the inside looks a little funny, but I wanted you to see the stamping and border.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Tammy Q Howell aka Tarheel Stamper

PS.  Back from the wedding.  It was so sweet and touching.  This is a 2nd marriage for them and they were high school sweethearts.  The bride's son walked her down the aisle and sang to her.  It was held with a lake in the background and a beautiful cabin backdrop.

Tarheel Stamper - Christmas Critters

The Holiday Mini Catalog has such great stamp sets and products!  I love everything about it.  Can you believe that Stampin' Up! has Designer Fabric for sale in this mini?

On to the card share for the day.  I based the layout on Techno Stampers Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 137.

I used a new stamp set from the Holiday Mini called Merry Crittermas.  Isn't that the cutest bunny?  I normally don't purchase this style of stamps, but need to step out of my comfort zone!  I used Holly Jolly Designer Series Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, and Very Vanilla card stock, Jet Black Stazon, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, and Pink Pirouette markers.  The DSP was cut using a new Sizzix XL Big Shot die Tasteful Trim.

Have a great stampin' day!

Tarheel Stamper - Bridal Gown Napkin

I saw this idea on several sites so I am not sure to whom to give credit.  If this was your original idea thanks for the great project and let me know and I will give you credit!  I just love these.  I used the same embossing folder, Elegant Bouquet, to dry emboss the napkin.  I used a smaller sized napkin and folded it into a triangle shape.  I then ran it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder.  The top of the gown is a Round Tab Punch from Very Vanilla card stock.  I used the Boho Blossom punch for the flowers from Chocolate Chip and the retired color Really Rust.  The ribbon is also retired.  It was an easy, but cute favor.  I used these for the bridal shower and the rehearsal dinner.  This is the last post of wedding items, but I sure enjoyed making everything for the wedding and parties.  It was a lot of fun.  I am not sure why the photograph looks like the napkin is debossed, but the embossing is standing up from the napkin.  No more wedding items for a while!  LOL Have a wonderful stampin' day!

Christmas in August - Tarheel Stamper

Christmas in August!  Missed Christmas in July because of wedding preparations.  LOL  I love Christmas and making cards to send is so much fun. This one will be part of a class I am having in September.  I wanted to keep the card somewhat simple to be able to mass produce.

Love how the Jewelry Tag Punch creates small perfect accents.  I used Night of Navy craft ink and Clear Embossing powder on the tag.  Silver embossing powder and Versamark ink was used for the main image.  I love heat embossing!  I added one of our Rhinestones on top of the star.  Sorry for the poor image, but the honeymooning couple has my camera.  I had to use my scanner and it is not working properly.  This is a very pretty card in real life.  I used TechnoStamper's TSSC135 sketch here for this card.  I love card sketch challenges.  Mary Jo Price-Williams always has great sketches.  Check out her blog.  She is very talented.  Love the music there also!
