For my project I wanted to do something different for me.  I don't use brights often and I don't have any younger children or grandbabies yet, but I am hopeful in the future for the grandkids.  Can't wait!  So I don't make a lot of children type projects.   I love animal crackers  and it made me think of the circus so I kind of went with that theme.

Click on photo for larger view.

The "animal cracker" box can be used for a small gift box, a place marker if you put the child's name on it, or a party favor to take home.  Think of all the small items you can put in this box.  I made this using the Sizzix Box #2 Item # 114518 die.  Various punches and even a retiring Sizzlit (Birds and Blooms Item # 113485) were used.  Sorry about the retiring Sizzlit, but I made the lion before I received the retiring accessories list. You can substitute another small scallop circle or small flower.

Click on photo for larger view.

The card is made with the same animals on the box.  I used the Top Note die (Item # 113463, a Stampin' Up! exclusive) for the "circus train" car.  I also the versatile Square Lattice embossing folder (Item # 119976).  The sentiment is stamped on a tag I made with the jewelry tag punch.  Come back to get a tutorial on that one.  I will have a video tutprial soon and will link it then.  Also I will have photos of the animal parts I used.  I searched circus animals and came across a link for cupcakes.  Wow they were wonderful.

The popcorn box can be used for gifts or snacks.  This was made with the Fancy Favor Sizzix die (Item # 115965 another Stampin' Up! exclusive).   I used 2  stamps from the Tiny Tags set heat embossed in White detail powder on Real Red for the tag.  Punched the sentiment out with the Jewelry Tag punch.  I used the new Baker's Twine (Cherry Cobbler) and White grosgrain ribbon to tie around the box.  I pinched the folds on the side so the box would flare outwards like a popcorn box.

Hope you have enjoyed this circus set today!  I enjoyed making it.  Next stop you will be on your way to Bluegrass Stamper Studio.  Enjoy the wonderful project on her site.   I know you will get great ideas! So many wonderful things to see on this blog hop.

Hope you will come back to visit sometime.  Have a wonderful day!

Tarheel Stamper - Blue Bird for Mom

click on image for larger view

I made a card with the Blossom Petals Punch to give my mom for Mother's Day.  She ended up going to my sister's house out of town.  I was going to hand deliver the flower card, so I made another one for her I could mail.

All the products I used are Stampin' Up! Stamp set is clear mount Nature Walk.  I love coloring with reinkers on a plastic lid picked up with the aqua brush.  One tip I have is to wet the area you want to color first with plain water and then paint.  The wet paper takes the ink so much better.  Let that area dry before painting adjacent areas. I use Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper.  The image is stamped in Black Stazon ink.  It does not smear or run since it is not water based dye ink.

The bookmark sentiment is stamped in Basic Brown and immediately heat embossed in clear embossing powder. I watercolored the rest of the images with reinkers after stamping them in Basic Brown.  Remember to let the brown ink dry a little while.  After watercoloring dried, I used the Versamarker on the images and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This added a nice shiny touch.  The cardstock is glossy white and the Big Shot Die is Two Tags.

I hope all you mothers out there have a wonderul Mother's Day!  I am so blessed to be the mom of three sons.  Thank you Lord for the joy they have given me over the years and continue now.

Tarheel Stamper - Pennant Banner and Bird's Nest Wedding Favors

Bird Nest Favors

The first photo is of a place setting at the reception.  We used paper and plastic products to help offset the cost and to quicken clean up! These are bird nests (haystacks) in a cello bag tired with Certainly Celery Satin ribbon.  I used the Wide Oval, Modern Label, and Word Window punches.  Colors are Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Bashful Blue card stock.  My Digital Studio is great for making the labels.

You can click on the photos for larger views.  We made almost 70 of these.  I would not have been able to do these without help from my sister, my other daughter(in law) and made my newest daughter(in law)'s sister.

Banner

The banner below is made with the Pennant Bigz XL die.  I stamped their names in Chocolate Chip with the Lovely Letters stamp set.  I used the 2 Step Bird and Scallop Circle punches on the banner also.  I wish I had a better photo, but hopefully you get the idea.  Everyone loved the banner and decorations.

We had a fruit and vegetable tray, wedding cookies, cake pops, mints, nuts, chocolate dipped strawberries, and heart shaped chicken salad sandwiches.  Also I made a Sundrop punch and we all love it.  Made it for the wedding reception also. Recipe is below the photo.  It is simple and thirst quenching.  It went quickly at both events.

Copied from Cynthia on the link below the recipe!

Sundrop Punch

If you are ever in need of a delicious punch recipe that is easy to make with limited ingredients, this recipe is for you. I found it while getting my nails done in a cookbook produced by the women of First United Methodist Church in Clover, SC.

2 (12 ounce) cans frozen lemonade concentrate
2 (46 ounce) cans unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled
3 (2 liter) Sundrops, chilled

Mix lemonade and pineapple juice together and refrigerate or freeze. If frozen, set out of freezer about 4 hours before serving time.

Pour into a large punch bowl, add Sundrop and stir gently to blend. Float thinly sliced lemon or orange on the top. Serve immediately.

Tarheel Stamper - Cake Pops and Shower and Wedding Favors

Thought I would share these cake pops I made. I had seen some on an Internet site and thought they would be cute to have for my daughter(in-law's) shower.  Mine doesn't look as good as that site's, but I think they turned out cute.  It did take some to make these, but everyone loved them.  I wish I would have had more time to maybe add a ribbon and a punched label to them, but they are cute.

Next is a photo of all the pillow boxes I made.  I showed one in the video I shared the other day.  These are made with the Sizzix Pillow Box Die, Modern Label and Word Window punches, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue and Whisper White card stock, and Certainly Celery ribbon. I also used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

Below is a close up of one of the boxes.

Next post I will show the banner some other decorations and the reception favors.

Happy Stampin',

Tarheel Stamper - First Video - Sizzix Pillow Box Die Tips

I cannot believe how long it has been since I posted.  Almost one month without a post is too long!  I was very busy with wedding preparations for our oldest son and now daughter("in-law")!  Yahoo they were married Saturday March 12th.  I made the decorations for a shower, wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner, and the wedding reception.  I had some great help from my other daughter("in-law"), my sister, and the bride's sister.  I am so thankful they helped me last week or I would never had gotten all the wedding things finished.  I will share pictures in the future, but I don't have my camera with me at the moment.

My sweet aunt passed away early Thursday morning and we buried her yesterday.  So my past week has been a roller coaster of emotions.  The family was so kind to schedule family visitation and the funeral services for Sunday and Monday so the wedding could go on and my mother (her sister passed away) could attend the wedding.  The wedding was wonderful and some of the family told me it was a nice and needed diversion from the pain of losing a grandparent and mother-in-law.  I am thankful to know that she is with loved ones and the Lord in Heaven now.

On to the video and enough of the personal life things for today.  I was making pillow box favors or the wedding rehearsal dinner and wanted to use each piece of card stock for as many pillow boxes as possible.  The video shows you how to get 4 out of one piece of card stock.  I wanted to see if I could make a video.  Please don't laugh too hard.  LOL ;-)  I hope you can get some tips out of this video.  I show the pillow box and some other tips I have learned about using the Sizzix.  I hope to make more in the future.  I used the Sixxix pillow box die from Stampin' Up!  It is so easy to make cute boxes with this.  I put 4 Robin Egg candies in each box.  The theme of the wedding was love birds.  The video is below and also on YouTube.  I have a channel titled Tarheel Stamper.

Anyway  I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for reading all this!

Tarheel Stamper Fancy Favor Wedding Box

Hi Stampin' Friends,

Hope you are all doing well.  Still battling a little dizziness, but am going to Family Camp with our church anyway.  I really need to get out of the house.  LOL

This is an easy box to make with the Big Shot.  I have a photo below of other items I made with this theme.  I have instructions to make the scallop circle purse here.  I trimmed the piece of card stock left after cutting this box for the strip going around the top of the box.  I thought it made a nice embellishment.

I am going to use these at the rehearsal dinner for the bride and groom.  Not sure what I will put in them yet, but I have to come up with something quickly. Any suggestions?  I would love to hear your suggestions.

I used Wedding Sweet stamp set on the boxes after cutting them out with the Big Shot.

VC Rocks Blog Hop #2 with Blog Candy

Welcome to my stop on the VC Rocks Blog Hop #2.  You may have come here from http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/   After my blog you will proceed to http://www.inkingthenightaway.blogspot.com/ to see some fantastic projects.  If you get lost on the hop, go to http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/  Read below for a description and details about blog candy.  You should be able to click on the photos for a larger view. Check back or follow my blog to see more wedding projects.  I will be sharing more I have made for the wedding in upcoming blog posts.  I have a photo of the group of projects at the end of this post.

Found this idea on Creations by Patty blog.  These purse boxes are very simple to make.  Great for small gifts, gift cards, trinkets, jewelry, or whatever you want to put in them.

I used Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla as my colors.  My son and his finance are using these colors for their wedding in August.  The Big Shot dies I used are Scallop Circle, Daisies #2, and Elegant Bouquet Impressions embossing folder.  I embossed with the folder after cutting the scallop circle out.

I used the Wedding Sweet set to add the thank you.  Colored the words with markers, huffed on the stamp, and stamped on Very Vanilla.  I punched the words out with tag punches.  I used a new punch in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack for the small flower on the tag and daisy.  I used Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon.  Said to say but it is retiring as well as the Really Rust Card stock. Tied the tag on with crochet thread.

Cut two scallop circles out.  Score leaving 7 scallops.  Do this on both scalloped circles.  See photo for detail.

Next follow directions on the photo below and tape together.

You will tape this box to the two scallop circles with the small scored piece taped to the bottom of the box. Tie some ribbon, add some embellishments and you have a great package!

I have some blog candy for you.  Somehow I ended up with two of It's the Thought Level 1 hostess stamp sets from the Summer Mini.  This is a clear mount set.  You will need acrylic blocks for this one.  Just leave a comment with your email address included in the comment.  You can leave it in this form {email at company dot net.}  If you don't leave an email, I want be able to contact you and this will disqualify you from the blog candy drawing.  I will use random.org to pick the comment on Monday, June 28.

I have so much fun with the VC Rocks yahoo group.  We have games, a virtual hotel, swaps, classes and so much more. Join us next year.  In the meantime you can view samples at the blog http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/.

Now please hop on over to http://www.inkingthenightaway.blogspot.com/ to enjoy more great projects!

VC ROCKS!

I have joined a Yahoo Group for three years now called VC ROCKS!  It is a lot of fun with swaps, challenges, and a virtual hotel.  They are doing something new this year handing out badges for completing certain requirements.  This will be digital, but we can print them or use them how we wish.  Our challenge for today was to make a 12 x 12 scrapbook page for the badges.  I decided to use retired Stampin' Up! DSP and soon to be retired color Close to Cocoa.  Sizzix Daisies #2 die was used to make the large flower.  The small flowers were punched with the Boho Blossoms punch. I used the retired Bold Alphabet for the title. Have a wonderful Stampin' Day!

Stampin' Up! Butterflies Sizzix Bigz Die Scrapbook Pages

Here is a another 12" x 12" scrapbook page I made for a Ronald McDonald house project.  I love the Butterflies Sizzix die.  You have several sizes from which to choose.  I layered the smallest butterfly over the medium sized one.  I embossed the small butterfiles with the Perfect Dots Embossing folder available in the Occasion Mini.
The strip at the bottom of the Close to Cocoa 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock is a 1" strip of Regal Rose punched with the Pinking Hearts border punch also available in the Occasions mini.  The small hearts on the strip is the smallest heart on the Heart to Heart punch.  I used the Warm Words stamp set in Rose Red on Regal Rose card stock punching with the Large Oval punch.  That is layered with the Scallop Oval punch in Close to Cocoa.  Hope you enjoy!  Happy Stampin'!

Stampin' Up! Scallop Envelope Bigz Die Box

There are other tutorials out there in blogging world for this box. This is not my original idea, but I wanted to share how to make it with you. This is a great box, but you will need to use very strong adhesive such as Stampin' Up!'s Sticky Strip.
Supplies for basic box:

4 - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" pieces of Pretty in Pink card stock

1 to 2 pieces of 3 1/4" square of Pretty in Pink card stock

Sticky Strip

1. Die cut 4 scallop envelopes from Pretty in Pink card stock. This Sizzix Bigz Die is only available through Stampin' Up! I use the stack shown below in the photo. Place card stock on die so that only one tab is cut off. See photo.

2. Using Perfect Dots Embossing Folder, emboss dots on Scallop Envelopes. I have included a photo to show you how to place it. That way you will have a flat tab to apply adhesive to and I chose to have my dots visible on the box and the reverse is on the folded over part. You will have to decide which one you want to show.

3. Fold on score lines as shown on photo. Remember to use your bone to burnish the folded card stock to obtain crisp corners. Since this has dots, you want to burnish right on the edge.

4. Place Sticky Strip on the remaining side tab as shown and line up the 4 scallop envelopes. Remove red liner and attach to each other ending with the final tab inside the box. It is helpful to fold and decide where the tape should go before actually applying it. Place Sticky Strip on bottom flaps ending with strips around the bottom piece edges to make it stay closed. This forms the bottom.

5. Insert the 3 1/4" square in bottom of the box. If desired you can glue down. Also if you want to you can add the 2nd square to the outside bottom.

6. Decorate and fill as desired. I have included photos of my finished box below. I will post a tutorial in the future on the scallop circle flower. I just love how this turned out.

Big Shot Sizzix Scalop Bunny Box

Isn't she cute! I made a girl bunny since I only have guys around my house. One day in the future I will have a couple of "daughters". I can't wait! They are so sweet and the Lord has provided two of our sons wonderful godly girlfriends. On to the box now.

There are instructions in a lot of places on the net for the scallop envelope box. I don't know the original designer of the box, but if it was you, please contact me and I will give you credit. Inspiration for this project was from the cute bunny box by Sandi MacIver here.

Start by die cutting 4 of the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Envelope dies with Green Galore cardstock. Cut off both of the tabs on two of the envelopes. Leave the other two envelope’s tabs intact. Run the envelopes back through the Big Shot with the Squares Texturz Impression Pad from Kit #4. That makes it look textured like a basket. Apply Sticky Strip to the side tabs. Making sure you have the correct side facing outward, align each side and adhere together. Fold the bottom flaps in by slipping one side of the flap under the next one and so on. I cut a 3 1/8” square of Green Galore to add to the bottom for extra strength. Glue this inside. Glue flaps down on outside.

Cut a 2 3/8” circle from Whisper White. Punch 4 large ovals from Whisper White and 4 small ovals from Pretty in Pink cardstock. Cut small strips of Certainly Celery for flower stems. Die cut 2 leaves using the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits die. Glue ears and feet on box and circle. Cut slim pieces of Whisper White for the whiskers. I used 5 strips. Put a glue dot where you want the nose. Arrange the whiskers on top of the glue dot. Put another glue dot on top of the whiskers. Punch heart from Heart to Heart Stampin’ Up! punch in Pretty in Pink. Adhere to top of whiskers with glue dot. Tie ½” Pretty in Pink grosgrain in bow. Use a glue dot to glue to bunny’s head. Punch ¼” circles of Basic Black. Glue eyes on to head. Glue bunny head to inside back box.
Die cut 3 large flowers, 5 small flowers, 2 leaves in Pretty in Pink and Barely Banana. Adhere around box.

Using 1 ¼” x 11” strip of Green Galore, punch both sides with Stampin’ Up! Eyelet Border Punch. To get eyelets to be equal on both sides, start one punching one side of the strip using one of the lines as a guild. Flip the strip over and punch using the same line. Make sure to start on the same end of the strip. Glue to inside of box lining up in bottom. Glue cotton ball on back for her tail. Fill with shredded paper or Easter grass and your choice of goodies. I always choose something I can’t eat so I am not tempted to snack. LOL Please leave your comments and questions. If you want to order any of the items used in this project, click on link under Shop Now. I have the item numbers below the photo.
