Tarheel Stamper - Candle Banner Birthday Card

Click on photo for larger view.

Believe it or not this card came together quickly. I heat embossed the sentiment with White Detail embossing powder. That stamp is from Messages for Mom. The background is a jumbo wheel named Whimsy inked with Versamark. I heat embossed the background with Clear embossing powder. The candle is from Create a Cupcake which was in the Occasions mini. I am hoping this stamp set makes it in the new catalog. I punched it out with the jewelry tag punch. I cut strips at 3/8" wide and fed them through the punch to make them as long as I wanted. The punched piece is upside down. I wanted to do something different. I used Regals brads in the bottom of the tags. The string is our new Baker's Twine in the Summer Mini. I knotted the ends after gluing it to the designer paper. The tags are popped up with dimensionals. The paper is from the Regals Patterns Designer Series pack and from a 12 x 12 Textured pack of Regals colors. I love the feeling of the textured card stock. It embossed very well. I used the Scallop Border punch on the Happy Birthday strip.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I just didn’t stamp for a while and now I am preparing for the next VC Rocks Blog Hop. The theme is Big Shot. I am excited to see the talented stampers’ projects. It will take place on June 11 – 12.

Our pool is open and the water is warming up! Yea for lazy afternoons floating in the pool! I love summertime. I am a warm (hot) weather kind of gal. How about you? The colors I used in the card are colors I see outside. More Mustard for the sun, Night of Navy for the pool water and sky, and Garden Green for the trees I see while floating! What inspires your color choice. Look around at nature. You will see many color combinations.

Have a great day,

Our theme for the 2011 May Blog Hop is Color My World. Our projects were to have some sort of coloring on them, such as using Stampin' Up! watercolor crayons, a brayer, markers, or other products to color with. I chose to water color with Stampin' Up!'s classic dye reinkers.

Now on to my projects. I made a matching card and box set.  I want to buy some small gift to fit in the box for my mom for her birthday. I wish the shine of the embossing would show up in the photos.  It is so pretty.  I used the new Doily Triple Layer punch to make label that Happy Birthday is stamped on.

I will have a video up after the blog hop is finished showing how I used my Stampin' Up! Soft Suede classic dye ink to heat emboss.  I also show how I colored the flowers.  Bookmark my site and come back to view the video.  I have a YouTube channel with a few videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/TarheelStamper.  Scroll down after the photos for a supply list and information about the blog candy I am giving away.

Tarheel Stamper - Blue Bird for Mom

click on image for larger view

I made a card with the Blossom Petals Punch to give my mom for Mother's Day.  She ended up going to my sister's house out of town.  I was going to hand deliver the flower card, so I made another one for her I could mail.

All the products I used are Stampin' Up! Stamp set is clear mount Nature Walk.  I love coloring with reinkers on a plastic lid picked up with the aqua brush.  One tip I have is to wet the area you want to color first with plain water and then paint.  The wet paper takes the ink so much better.  Let that area dry before painting adjacent areas. I use Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper.  The image is stamped in Black Stazon ink.  It does not smear or run since it is not water based dye ink.

The bookmark sentiment is stamped in Basic Brown and immediately heat embossed in clear embossing powder. I watercolored the rest of the images with reinkers after stamping them in Basic Brown.  Remember to let the brown ink dry a little while.  After watercoloring dried, I used the Versamarker on the images and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This added a nice shiny touch.  The cardstock is glossy white and the Big Shot Die is Two Tags.

I hope all you mothers out there have a wonderul Mother's Day!  I am so blessed to be the mom of three sons.  Thank you Lord for the joy they have given me over the years and continue now.

Tarheel Stamper - Shaving Cupcake

Have you seen the Dairy Queen commercial with the shaving bunnies.   I thought it was strange and funny.  LOL  I used a faux shaving cream technique for this card.  So that is why I put shaving cupcake for the title.

Click on photo for larger view

This card is for one of my "daughters" birthday.  I loved making the accent strip for this card.  It is so easy and cleans up quickly.  I have added a video on my You Tube channel - Tarheel Stamper on how to do the faux shaving cream technique with Stampin' Up!'s Clear-Mount acrylic blocks. I used the largest one we sell. The video is embeded in this post at the end of the supplies list.   This was so much fun and not as messy as the original shaving cream technique, which by the way is gorgeous.
