Everythings Coming Up Daisies!

I love daisies! There are so pretty and fresh. We also have a blonde labador retriever named Daisy. Her name fits her. I caught her eating some of Gerbera Daisies when she was a pup. LOL We do love her! She is such a sweet girl.

Anyway on to the card. This card is for a Summer Theme challenge on the Late Night Stampers Yahoo group. I love this group. It is so positive and everyone is helpful. You can join by clicking on the link in the sidebar.
The Thinking of You is a stamp from Sincere Salutations and is heat embossed with Detail White embossing powder. I added three gold brads beside the saying. Remember the brad tip! It works so wonderfully!

I used the Sizzix Bigz Die Daisies #2. I love the Big Shot! The ribbon is the beautiful Organza Ribbon available in the Summer/Spring Idea Book and Catalog! Hope you enjoy this card!

Branch Out Card and Flattening Brad Prongs Tip!

Hi Stampin' Friends,

I am loving this Stampin' Up! stamp set named Branch Out. Some of my favorite images are of trees. I don't know why, but I love trees. What a wonderful God I serve! He has created so many beautiful trees for me to see, well not just for me, but I appreciate His handiwork. I missed the challenge deadline on this one for Late Night Stampers Yahoo group, but I will share it anyway.
I used the Close to Cocoa pad and swiped from the bottom of the tree trunk upwards on the branches with the ink pad. I wanted an uneven application of ink on the stamp. The streaks add another illusion of dimension to the tree. I added Kiwi Kiss from the top of the lid with a blender pen on the grass under the tree. After huffing on the stamp, I stamped the image on Whisper White cardstock. I sponged Pacific Point and Kiwi Kiss around the edges. Used the Corner Rounder on the corners of the image.
I stamped the birdhouse in Ruby Red below the stamped tree and also on a scrap piece of Whisper White. I stamped the bird using the rock and roll method with Pacific Point and Baja Breeze. To do the rock and roll method, you load the stamp with the lightest color and then roll the edge on which you want the darker ink to show on the pad. I cut out the bird and the birdhouse. The birdhouse is on a Stampin' Dimensional over the already stamped one. The birdhouse is also popped up. I used Linen thread for the hanger for the birdhouse. A tip I read somewhere I want to share is to move the paper and not the scissors when you are cutting items out. This makes a much nicer cut. It is awkward at first to learn how to do this, but it is worth the effort. You will obtain and neater more professional looking cut.
Next I took Chocolate Chip and Ruby Red cardstock and die cut the Top Note Sizzix Bigz Die out of both layers of cardstock. I ran those stacked together through the Big Shot with the Distressed texture plate. This assured me of a match on the texture with both pieces of cardstock since I was cutting out a section of the Ruby Red to use on the finished card. The Big Shot is one of my favorite tools. I love how easy it is to get out of the cabinet and put on the counter. I don't have a dedicated stamping room and use to have to get the old red Sizzix die cut machine out of my cabinet and it was heavy. I didn't use it much because of that. The Big Shot is balanced and not as heavy. It is easy to use. The multipurpose platform has instructions for the sandwiches on the tabs for the memory challenged like me! I cut the middle out of the Ruby Red Top Note die cut and pasted it down on top of the Chocolate Chip top note die cut. I glued the two remaining sections on the back of the Chocolate Chip one. Don't want to waste any of it and I thought it gave it more definition. I punched two holes on the side and used Linen Thread through those.
Stamped Friend to Friend from Pocket Silhouettes in Old Olive and matted that with Old Olive cardstock. I used gold brads on this.
GREAT BRAD TIP!
I had some ladies over to stamp on Friday night and one of them shared a tip with me about brads. I love this! She said after putting the brads in and bending the prongs down, put an acrylic block on top of the brad prongs and press down. This is done on the back of the brad, on top of the brad prongs, not on the front side of the brad. You won't believe how flat this makes the brad. I didn't have an acrylic block, but had the wood block of the stamps. I pressed down on that and it leaves the flattest prongs I have seen. A lot of you probably know this, but this was the greatest tip I have seen in a long time and I wanted to share it with you! Happy Stampin!

Masculine Card

Very simple card, but I love it. We will be making this one at my May Stamp Camp. The strips are Urban Oasis designer series paper. I distressed the edges with the cutter kit. Very little stamping, just the word Celebrate from the Wonderful Words set. I hope those don't retire. Speaking of retirement, the retiring stamp sets lists will be out on June 1, 2009! I will post a link on my blog to the list. I love new things and can't wait to look for the new sets and accessories coming in the new Idea Book and Catalog. Stampin' Up! is going back to a once a year format. Thanks for looking!

Driving By Birthday Card

I love this Stampin' Up! Loads of Love pickup truck! I am having a Masculine May Stamp Camp titled Simply Scraps. I want to show customers how to use those scraps that accumulate as we are trimming Designer Paper and cardstock. I know that I have many small pieces around. One way to use those is to punch with Stampin' Up!'s fantastic punches. Here I used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" square punches. I am also going to show how to make faux sewing with the Cutter Kit. The Designer Series Paper is Urban Oasis. Check back soon for another card made with that paper! Contact me to sign up for the class. May 23, 2009 1 - 3 pm.

Circles and Cake

Quick Post for today. I have a hair appointment in a few minutes. This is a card for my May Stamp Camp. I wanted something simple and that could be used for a man or a lady. I used Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper, Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, and Whisper White cardstock, Kiwi Kiss and Rose Red Classic Inks. The stamp set is One Smart Cookie. I did this for a challenge on Late Night Stampers' Yahoo Group. It is a great group of stampers. The link to the group is on my sidebar. You will love it!

Wonderful Tree

Hi Stampin' Friends,

I thought this would make a great Father's Day card for my sons to give to their dad on Father's Day. I don't have a Father's Day stamp so I used wonderful from Warm Words. My wonderful husband is a very special day! God has blessed our family with a wonderful husband and father. I used the spiral punch on the Baja Breeze strip, threaded natural hemp twine through the slots, and tied knots around each piece showing on top. This is the first time I have used the set Branch Out. I colored the tire swing with Creamy Caramel and Basic Black markers. Such an easy technique to add color to your markers. Just color directly on the stamp with Stampin' Up! Markers (water based) and huff on the stamp. The moisture in your breath reactivates the ink and then stamp as usual. We will be making a card similar to this at my May Stamp Camp!
Stamps - Branch Out, Warm Words
Inks - Creamy Caramel and Basic Black markers, Close to Cocoa, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point Classic Ink Pads
Papers - Walk in the Park DSP, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Whisper White cardstock
Accessories - Hemp Twine, Silver Brads, Neutrals Button, Lots of Tags Sizzlit die, Matchbox XL Bigz Die

Late Night Stampers Bloggin' Stars Group 1

Hi Stampin' Friends,

I am so excited to tell you about this group. I am delighted to be in Late Night Stampers Bloggin' Stars. Groups of 10 or 11 are going to be encouraging each other by leaving comments on each other's daily blog posts. It is nice to have comments on my blog, but I enjoy leaving comments for others' blogs more. I believe that if we give it will be given back to us more abundantly! I love the Yahoo LNSConvention2009 group because of that. So many are willing to give of their time, money, and expertise to help others. The group leader, Sherrill Graff, is always giving to others in service and time and encourages us to do the same. The Stampin' world is better because of it. Late Night Stampers is such an uplifting, encouraging group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and stampers who love Stampin' Up! products. There is so much talent and inspiration on this group.

I hope you will take time to look at these wonderful stampers' blogs every day. They are fantastic! Take time to put a smile on their faces and warm their days by leaving heartfelt comments. A lot of work goes into these ladies' blogs. Hope you enjoy visiting them as much as I do! I have a list of the bloggers in Group 1 below and also will permanently have them on the sidebar on the right.

Stampin' Up! Zoofari Scrapbook Page

May is National Scrapbooking Month so to celebrate here is a page I adapted from one shown on Stampin' Up!'s website. Their page was a 6 x 6 size. I adpapted the page for a stamp camp to a 12 x 12. In the photo of the 12 x 12 page it doesn't appear to be 12 x 12, but it is. I used the Texturz plates and embossed dots on the circles. I embossed dots with the Big Shot on a piece of cardstock and then punched various circles out of that. The paper piercing template was used to make the row of dots on the strip. One thing I am going to change about this page is the sentiment on the strip. It reads Wild About You. I stamped it like the SU sample with Bashful Blue. I am going to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamp it wth Chocolate Chip Craft Ink. It will show up better. Also my campers chose which alternate color to use either Bashful Blue or Pretty in Pink.
I love this stamp set from Stampin' Up! Wild About You is great for cards and scrapbooking.
Stampin' Up! also has cooridnating Decor Elements which you can apply to your walls and other hard surfaces.

Daisies For You Card

Hi Stampin' Friends! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Seems like I can't get caught up at work. I am ready to get back to stampin' and scrapin'. I will be sharing a scrapbook page tomorrow.

I made this card for a challenge on the Late Night Stampers Yahoo group. We had to choose a card on the sweet leader's blog, Sherrill Graff, . I chose this card on her blog by Janet Urke. It is so pretty. This is the first card I have tried the Sizzix Daisies Bigz Die. Stamp set used is Oval All. It is available in the Occasions Mini Catalog. Punch is the Oval Scallop punch also available in the Occasions Mini. Also I used the perforating tool from the cutter kit to make the stitched lines on the Riding Hood Red strip. Just lightly run the perforating tool over a Whisper White Craft Pad and keep inking. Run the tool over the cardstock. I used a ruler to keep my line straight. Also I find that it makes a better impression to have a hard surface underneath.

I love the Sweet Bella Designer Paper. I am going to miss all the great papers with the In Colors in them when the new catalog comes out. Right now Stampin' Up is running a promotion coinciding with National Scrapbooking month. This is a great time to buy the Designer Papers, 12 x 12 Textured Cardstock, or Speciality Designer Papers. Details below. If you have any questions, please contact me at howe1472@bellsouth.net.
